Himesh Reshammiya and Urmila Matondkar are currently shooting for the remake of the 1980s hit flick, Karz. And the two actors are bonding very well. “Himesh is very down-to-earth and hard-working,” says Urmila. “He’s very passionate about his work. It’s been great working with him.”
As for Himesh, he is at home with people in the film industry, despite being new to acting. “There’s a high level of comfort here,” he says. “I’ve worked with most of them as a music director or singer at some point or another. So, I’m not really new to the industry.”
He certainly isn’t, but he is new to is the lush crop of hair he’s been sporting recently. On the sets, Himesh reaches for his hairbrush every chance he gets, to make sure his new locks look good. “I was going bald, so I got this done. I’m just a Gujarati boy. But you have to try to do your best in everything, and God helps you out.”
Music mogul Bhushan Kumar threw a surprise birthday party for director Satish Kaushik on the sets of his mega-venture - a remake of an ‘80s hit, Karz - at a studio in Kanjunmarg over the weekend. The shoot wound up early and the entire unit, including producer Bhushan, his wife, creative director Divya Khosla Kumar, actors Himesh Reshammiya, Urmila Matondkar and Shweta Kumar and cinematographer Manoj Soni surprised Satish with a cake and lots of good wishes.
The director was obviously touched by the warm gesture, and thanked his reel-life family members for a fun shoot.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be able to save about Rs 40 lakh only if the West Bengal government agrees to waive off the entertainment tax during the IPL matches at Eden Garden. Apparently, the BCCI has issued letters to all its franchisees asking them to request various state governments that the purpose behind the IPL is to promote cricket.
“We have issued letters to all our franchisees that is to be submitted to the state government,’’ explained Rajiv Shukla, chairman of the entertainment committee of the IPL on Thursday. “The letter clearly states that IPL is to promote the game of cricket and not for any other commercial purpose. The 10 minutes of entertainment which will be provided during the break will also focus on sport.’’
Most of the state governments—Maharashtra, AP, Delhi and TN —have agreed to waive it off, he added and hoped the West Bengal government too will follow suit.
There’s seems to be trouble brewing between Bollywood’s evergreen couple, Hema Malini and Dharmendra. We recently asked Hema whether we can expect to see this much-loved pair onscreen. “I am not doing any films with Dharam-ji, and probably never will,” she replied. “There’s something between us that will make it hard to work together. The reason? You’ll have to ask him.”
It sounds like Hema is upset with her hubby, but fortunately she isn’t fretting about their daughter Esha’s marriage. “Every girl has to get married,” says yesteryear’s still-gorgeous Dream Girl. “But Esha has to work in films for some more time before she settles down.”
Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan have been married for 10 years now, so when the news broke about them parting ways, eyebrows went up. Apparently, Arbaaz is currently staying with his dad Salil Khan and is even preparing to get married again! We spoke to Arbaaz about this shocking news, and were pleasantly surprised. According to the actor, all’s well in paradise and he and Malaika are very much together. In fact, he is planning to hold a press conference to clarify this matter to the public once and for all.
That ought to pull the plug on the rumour mill.
Making comments has turned out to be an expensive activity for Pooja Bedi! Not too long ago, Celina Jaitley and Pooja were bonding beautifully just prior to shooting for Akshay Kumar’s show, Fear Factor. Then, things turned sour. Friction arose between Celina and the show’s organizers, and Pooja couldn’t resist publicly passing remarks on Celina’s role in it. Insulted and infuriated, Celina shot out a legal notice to Pooja, demanding Rs 5 crore as compensation!
We asked Pooja about this sticky issue at Shiamak Davar’s dance show. “Let’s talk about dance and happy things,” she said, looking her animated best. “Let’s enjoy the moment. We’ll talk about that some other day. Today is about Shiamak.” Upon being pressed for comment, she said: “Forget all the news. I’m not going to talk about it.” We don’t blame her for not speaking up, though. Who knows how much another comment could cost her!
