Esha Deol is making the necessary corrections in her career. The actress is sad that she chose films in the past that never helped her to any advantage.

Recovering from this introspection, Esha is focusing all her energies on her upcoming film TELL ME OH KHUDA, that is her home production. Esha feels that the film has everything that she needs to establish her firm foothold in Bollywood. The actress says, “I have wisened up and I, as an actor or producer, will only take up films that has some good content.”

According to close sources, mom Hema Malini is ready to go to any extent to make this film work in Esha’s favour. Though Esha has done big films in the past, the most remembered being her sexy act in DHOOM, but it seems success still loves to elude her.

There were two sole factors for the surprise success of Dhoom in the year 2004: bikes and hot bikini of Esha Deol. It was a closely guarded secret that Esha Deol would don a bikini for Dhoom. And in the middle of the movie, from the waters comes a scorching hot Esha Deol with a washboard belly in a sizzling bikini. The camera ogled at her as the goddess emerged wet and bold. Simply superb stuff. Though the exposure was not outrageous, the surprise element of the the bikini in Dhoom created waves in the sea and ripples in the box office.

Esha Deol has always been a friend of the Khan family, Feroz Khan’s family that is. Fardeen calls her his best male buddy; given their rapport with each other while she was once upon a time romantically linked with cousin Zayed.

Feroz Khan himself is very fond of the girl and Esha would drop in at the FK house in Juhu even if the boys weren’t around to catch up with her Feroz Uncle.

So it wasn’t surprising to see Esha making regular rounds of the hospital when Feroz Khan was recently hospitalized.

But unlike other celebrities making a scene out of hospital visits, we are told Esha would be very subdued and would make a quiet entry into the hospital and spend time with Feroz Khan doing her best to avoid drawing attention to her in the hospital.

Knowing Feroz Khan being a scrabble fan, she would be playing word games with him to keep him in good spirits in his troubled times.

‘Jade’ brings Hema, Esha and Ahana together

There is no denying the fact that Hema Malini and her two daughters, Esha and Ahana Deol, are perhaps the rarest combination of beauty and talents in any of the Bollywood families. However, the three rarely come together for any project despite the fact that all of them are related to the tinsel town.

Now, for the first time the Mother-daughters trio have come together for the cover sotry and page of the magazine ‘Jade’. The issue has Hema talk about issues like how did a South Indian coped in a North dominated film industry, to which Hema said that “There is no north-south divide at all in the film industry. It’s all in the minds of the public.” She also speaks about her first tele-serial called ‘Noopur’, which was launched in the early nineties. Hema also answers questions about ‘What’s missing from today’s actresses, How she would be remembered, What’s her take on today’s Bollywood…’to say the least.

There's more happening in Esha Deol's life than meets the eye. Their family's Juhu bungalow which was under construction for the past one year is almost ready.

Last year Esha her mom and sister moved into a new panoramic home in Goregaon. Though the three ladies loved the far-from-the-madding-crowd atmosphere at Goregaon and had decided to stay put in their sighing haven, the family is now planning to move back to Juhu to their original place.

Says Esha, "We miss our old home. That's where all our best memories are. That's where Esha and Ahana grew up. And that's where all of mom's friends from the industry stay.

So yes, we plan to move back as soon as the renovation is done. One of the main problems in our Juhu home was the waterlogging in monsoon. The elevation work has been done. The outside is complete. And now the interiors are being done."

But there were advantages of staying in Goregaon. "Travelling to Film City for shooting is so easy here. That set of a aircraft that they put up at Film City for Hijack was just a hop away. Everyday I'd get into my car and drive straight into the aircraft."

Esha 's new film has tanked. But had a ball shooting Hijack. "It was an action film. I was an airhostess wearing a skirt. So I couldn't do any stunts.

But the interesting part of the film was that I don't have a hint of a romantic association with Shiney Ahuja. Now I'm also doing Shivum Nair's Exchange Offer with Rahul Bose. It's a very contemporary film about a young couple. And working with Rahul is so different from working with any of my other co-stars."

Esha also went through a learning experience when she did an item song with Govinda in Money Hai To Honey Hai.

"I did that number only to work with Govinda. I'm his biggest fan. As a child I used to watch some of his films almost every day. Dancing with him is a joy. He knows exactly how to handle the body contact in the dancing movements."

Esha Deol, daughter of actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, says that her mom wouldn't mind her being in a live-in relationship before marriage and adds that her dream man should be like her dad.

"I believe in a love marriage and am looking for a guy who would have some qualities of my father, " said Esha, who will be seen next with Shiney Ahuja in "Hijack".

"I think every girl wants her life partner to have some qualities of her father and I also want the same. My father has been the closest man in my life till now and I'm familiar with his qualities and therefore want my man to be like him, " Esha told in an interview.

Although her parents are looking for a suitable match for her, the 25-year-old actress is not game for an arranged marriage.

"My mom is a modern kind of person and would not mind if I even go for a live-in relationship with someone. I think I would like to live with him for at least two years and then think of getting married.

"It's always better to know a person well before marriage than getting divorced later, " she quipped.

According to Esha, she and her mother share many interests.

"Both of us like dancing and acting; therefore we share a lot of common things among us. Besides, she has been a constant support in my life."

She said Hema is now trying to revive her banner H.M. Creations, which made Shah Rukh Khan starrer "Dil Aashna Hai" in 1992.

"My mom is very keen to revive her banner. She thinks this is the best time to start a project as the market has really grown during the past couple of years. Also, we believe in the saying 'make hay when the sun shines'."

Though they have decided to make a film, the script has not yet been finalised.

"We are going through various scripts, but nothing has been finalised yet."

Esha debuted with "Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe" in 2002 and in the last six years featured in several films, but success has eluded her so far. She was a part of successful films like "Dhoom", "Yuva" and "No Entry", but all of them were multi-starrers.

After doing glamorous roles in run-of-the-mill films, Esha now wants to do some meaningful cinema.

"Though I am happy with my sexy image, I want to do meaningful cinema. There is nothing wrong being sexy as most of the actresses feel proud if they are termed as 'sexy and hot'; so do I.

"But at the same time I want to do some films that also show my acting talent, " she said.

She is positive about "Hijack" and says it has tapped her acting potential in the right way.

"The role that I am playing in 'Hijack' is what I have never tried before. For the first time I will not be romancing my hero, neither will I be seen running around trees, not even in a dream sequence, " said Esha who plays an air hostess in the movie.

"My character is experienced and believes in herself and helps the protagonist, played by Shiney Ahuja, with all her experience in rescuing the passengers."

She rubbished reports that she didn't get along with Shiney on the sets of "Hijack".

"It is not true at all. Shiney and I get along well and I think the media reports of my strained relations with him were just a publicity gimmick. I'm looking forward to do another film with him."

Asked about working with debutant director Kunal Shivdasani, Esha said: "Kunal is an experienced ad filmmaker and he has applied his experience in making the film. He has shot the film aesthetically and also in a realistic way."

"Hijack", which also stars K.K. Raina and debutante Kaveri Jha in important roles, releases this Friday.

Esha Deol, like most people, always believed that being an air-hostess was an easy job. But that was only till she got to play an airhostess herself. And that experience changed Esha’s perception for good. It was during the shoot of Kunal Shivdasani’s film Hijack — an action-thriller that also stars Shiney Ahuja — in which the sexy actress plays an airhostess that Esha realised how tough their jobs can be.
